Primary Mental Health Service
The primary mental health team (PMHT) have teams in Coventry and Warwickshire. PMHT support parents/ carers and professionals with their child/young person’s emerging (mild to moderate) mental health difficulties. To access this service the child or young person should not be open to any other specialist mental health team in RISE.
What's the role of Primary Mental Health?
The Primary Mental Health service gives general advice, guidance and consultation to parents/ carers and professionals in Coventry and Warwickshire. We help children and young people who may be displaying signs of emotional distress and emerging mental health difficulties, by working with those around the child, such as teachers, in order to put in place plans to manage issues and stop them becoming more serious.
In Warwickshire PMHT additionally deliver parent workshops and group training for those who work with children, such as school-linked professionals or social care roles.

What happens during a Consultation?
Parents/ carers and professionals will receive a 45-minute solution focused consultation, appropriate advice guidance, strategies, signposting and plans will formed.
You will be asked to complete the dimensions tool to aid the consultation.
For professionals we can discuss a child or young person anonymously and provide general advice and guidance. Where appropriate, so that we can better support the child/ young person you are consulting about, we may seek your permission to convert the query into a formal referral to the Primary Mental Health Service or other Rise teams.
