COMPASS Shine
Compass Shine is an early intervention and prevention service that provides support to children and young people experiencing mild or mild/moderate emotional health difficulties aged from 5 to 18 years, and up to 25 years, if they have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) or are a care leaver. We also support parents, carers and professionals who are worried about a child or young person’s emotional wellbeing.
We define mild and moderate by thinking about the severity and duration of symptoms and the impact these have on the CYP daily life using the principles set out by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), these can be commonly understood as:
Mild: generally, refers to relatively few core symptoms which have a limited duration and limited impact on day-to-day functioning.
Moderate: refers to the presence of several core symptoms of disorder, and a clear impact on functioning.
Nice guidelines – assessing the severity of common mental health disorders: definitions: https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/cg123/chapter/1-guidance
Compass Shine will support CYP and families who present with a mild to moderate emotional health difficulty by providing a range of interventions that include self-help resources, information & advice, digital, individual or group intervention, remote and 1:1 counselling and family-based support.
